I recently witnessed how opportunistic city sparrows can be. After shopping at a nearby farm store, I sat in my car checking the email on my phone and I witnessed two small sparrows sitting on the front bumper of the car across from me. They hopped up and bit at the front grill of the car, snapping up the ‘catch of the day’. The insects that had given their life for the sake of transportation, did not die in vain. They became meals for these opportunistic, and evolving, set of birds. Darwinism at play.
I was somewhat bemused at this sight. It struck me that we, as a human race, are not the only ones adapting to modern technology and transportation.
